Apologies to anyone who was reading this on a feed-reader last week – I’m told that none of the links worked unless you came to the site first. Hopefully I’ve mended the technological glitch now (let me know if I haven’t – technology isn’t my strongest point)…
Continuing last week’s links post, it seems I had some really good stuff squirreled away for a rainy day. Collected together below is a further mix of the informative, interesting and totally insane.
- Cataracts are an affliction for many older people, including my Dad who has had cataracts removed from both eyes during the last 6 months, so I was interested to read this abstract of a study revealing that increased dietary fat intake reduces the incidence of cataracts.
- I’ve got a lot of respect for Robb Wolf and his knowledge about diet (especially the Paleo diet). Here he is highlighting various pieces of research that suggest you may not want low cholesterol after all.
- I’m a huge fan of parkour and highly recommend watching the French film “District 13
” for some brilliant parkour sequences. Meanwhile, this art-based video really appealed to the parkour-lover in me.
- I’ve mentioned before in various places the benefits of getting some good quality sleep, including the fact that Dan John recommends more sleep for weight loss. Here’s some good advice on getting more sleep.
- Anna Dornier, recently certified as a Russian Kettlebell Instructor by Pavel Tsatsouline, writes about whether women should do the same type of workouts as men.
- I found this article on Research, Big Food and Science really educational. It’s looking at the links between nutritional research, the big enterprises that often fund it and how this can skew the results.
- Recently I’ve been hooked by the daily photo project of Stormtroopers 365. I find myself looking forward to what crazy pose will have landed in my Google Reader account each morning.
- Our bodies constantly amaze me with their precision scientific engineering. For starters, gargling glucose can improve your exercise performance. If that isn’t crazy enough, thinking about sweets can cause you to start taking up more blood sugar.
- Mike T Nelson has produced a short video with some sound advice on how to improve pull ups and chin ups. It demonstrates some of the basic postural things that hinder performance on this exercise so if you are struggling with this exercise I recommend you take the time to watch this.
- If you need incentive to watch your waistline, here’s news that a dating and social networking site axed 5,000 members who gained too much weight over the festive period.
- More inspirational stuff for women training everywhere in this image of Elizabeth Talbot-Horne doing some amazing grip work. This is the sort of stuff I can only dream of at the moment.
I hope you enjoy these. There will be more links next week!

I love the Stormtroopers’ antics, too. They really make me smile when I open up my inbox first thing in the morning.
Thanks for the shout out to my link. Great stuff here and awesome links too.
Keep up the great work and if there is anything I can do to help, let me know!
Rock on
