This week’s links seem to have a bit of a dietary skew – apologies for that. The links posts appear to have become a weekly phenomenon. This week sees the last of some posts that I had been storing up over the last few months and is also a bumper collection since it includes some newer ones too.
- A fascinating article in US News & World Report about whether your genes affect which diet will achieve weight-loss for you got me thinking about the varied success different people have had with the paleolithic diet for weight-loss.
- If you want inspiration to develop some muscular glutes look no further than this minute-long video of various women flexing their posteriors for Female Glutes Week 2010.
- Sex is good for us! I’ve found articles to summarise some surprising health benefits and the improved self-confidence that you’ll gain. As if an excuse was required.
- Low-carb is getting more traction in the media and as a result Jimmy Moore did 4 interviews on TV recently about low-carb. You can watch them all on his blog.
- I hadn’t heard of the book “Female Brain Gone Insane
”, but having read this review of it, I don’t think it’ll be a book for me.
- On an outdoors theme, I was amused to read this list of reasons to classify yourself as a winter camper. Not least because I could tick off about 75% of them as applying to me.
- Michelle has found that the paleo (caveman) diet has been the way to overcome severe Type 1 diabetes. Her blog is well worth reading to learn more about the way the diet has effected her need to take insulin.
- If you want to know how to do a one-arm push up, then this super tutorial video will show you how. I’m almost tempted…
- Does our modern lifestyle cause vitamin and mineral deficiencies? Have a read of this article and then tell me what you think.
- Tony Gentilcore really made my week by announcing that he is going to dedicate more material to women-specific training. I love reading Tony’s blog and it can only get better if there’s more information for women!
- A crazy doctor in the UK made waves the other week by announcing that we should ban butter to solve a huge number of health problems. I listened to an interview with him on the radio and got as cross as it seems Chris from Conditioning Research did. However, thanks to Chris, I’m pleased to see that someone took some immediate action.
- If you’re a woman who believes in cycling then you may be interested to understand from this short video what motivates girls in Darlington to stop cycling. Having previously only ever cycled in my lycra gear (or jeans when I was a teenager) I’m now convinced I should have a go at cycling in a skirt and heels to see what happens.
- We’ve all heard about how good green tea is for us, so I was unsurprised to see the BBC reporting on the possibility that drinking green tea can reduce the chance of getting lung cancer. Unfortunately this isn’t enough to overcome my dislike of the flavour and start me drinking green tea.
- Here’s a bit of an attack on Dr. Oz’s recommendations about detoxifying the liver. I confess that I had never heard of Dr. Oz before I read this article, but I found myself agreeing whole-heartedly with a lot of the comments in this post.
- Finally, I also want to thank Jimmy Moore for bringing my attention to this very short video, reminding us that there is some really horrid stuff put into our food these days if you don’t cook it yourself. I can’t agree more with the final sentiment.
