Great links for the weekend!

March 19th, 2010 · No Comments · Links

It’s another week with a very mixed collection of anything and everything.  There’s just so much interesting and random information out on the internet and in the blogosphere at the moment.

  • Starting out, a thank you to Wellgate who have finally developed sports supports and braces that are specifically designed for women’s proportions and shapes.  Fantastic news if you use such things – I don’t.
  • This week, the animal spot is filled with articles.  At the recent American Association for the Advancement of Science conference, someone talked about research they were carrying out into the way dolphins can turn on and off their insulin resistance – something that could be used to “cure” those with type 2 diabetes.  Following the conference a few other people have also written about this.
  • Another female bodybuilder for this week’s interview.  This time it’s the turn of Liza Reichenberger.
  • Here’s a telling reminder that training should, above all things, be fun.  Concentrate on the fun and the gains should follow (within reason).
  • Last week I mentioned Anne-Mari Hyryläinen who is training to be the first Finnish woman to summit Everest.  Here’s an interview with Mike Farris to remind us all of some of the dangers of climbing Everest.
  • To cheer you up, here’s a photo of crazy people jumping in sleeping bags.  It amused me a ridiculous amount.
  • I loved this article by Rachel Cosgrove on the secret reason why you still have a pooch (or a paunch, if you live in the UK).
  • Here are a few amusing articles for women on such important things as date etiquette and the money issues we have with men.
  • I would imagine that most people who read this blog are already aware that walking and glucosamine can both help prevent osteoporosis, but a recent study has shown it can help with osteoarthritis too.
  • If you are interested in bikini competition, it’s good news for you that this is now one of the bodybuilding events to be included at the prestigious Arnold Sports Festival in 2011.
  • To give us all something to think about, I’ve found this article about OCD and where the line can be drawn between risk, caution and reasonable doubt.

If you would like some inspiration to do something different, I will leave you with this video about Marcos Diaz’s intention to swim across all five continents during the summer of 2010.
