Blog-watch: Chad Waterbury

August 19th, 2010 · 2 Comments · Training

A few weeks ago, Chris and I were chatting about figure work and body composition.  As part of the conversation Chad Waterbury came up, since I rate him highly when it comes to sculpting the female figure, and we observed that neither of us had heard much from him or about him for some time.  Certainly we hadn’t seen any new Chad Waterbury articles for several months.

Only a few days later Chad Waterbury and his new program, Body of F.I.R.E. starting exploding all over our Google Reader RSS feeds.  That at least explained why he had been so quiet for so long.  I imagine he was busy perfecting and writing up the new program!

This blog-watch is not an interview with Chad.  There’ve been plenty of those already.  Instead it is a reference of all the Chad Waterbury information that has dropped into my RSS feed in the last few weeks, plus a few old favourites that I just can’t get enough of.  If you work your way through the whole collection you’ll be starting to get a good feel for who Chad Waterbury is and figure-conscious women will also glean some useful words of wisdom from this master of figure sculpting.

  • I’ll start with the older bits.  In the past I’ve referred to an article Chad wrote for Figure Athlete called The Figure Program – I mostly rely on this article for its diet tips.  For supplementary training tips I tend to return to his article, Sexy Female Training.  In pulling together this post I’ve also found his Fat Loss for Every Girl article about energy systems.  It’s an interesting read.
  • Moving onto the recent things that I’ve seen, everything was kicked off for me by a general Fat Burning Tips interview that Jason Ferruggia did, which even has a part two!  At this point, I was still unaware of the new program, although by the end of that same RSS-feed catch up session I was much wiser.  The interview has some great, easy-to-grasp tips and Jason has found some superb photos to illustrate the key points too.  Jason found that he had such good feedback on the interview that he then got Chad to write a short article for him outlining Chad’s Top Five Fat Loss Tips.  A really helpful article if you don’t have time to read all the longer ones.
  • Eric Cressey, a giant in the training world, also did an interview with Chad.  This interview focuses on Body of F.I.R.E., fat burning and what nutritional and exercise things people should expect to see in Body of F.I.R.E..  It’s a useful introduction to the program.
  • Joining in with the fun, Alwyn Cosgrove had a brief reminisce about Chad, including how Alwyn came to hear about Body of F.I.R.E..  It’s a short but really rather sweet post about Chad really.  However, Alwyn did follow this up with a brief interview with Chad, again asking about the fat loss tips and providing a brief overview of the new program.
  • Precision Nutrition sent Krista Scott-Dixon of Stumptuous fame off to interview Chad too.  This was an excellent choice since Krista does plenty of martial arts and Body of F.I.R.E. is getting a lot of attention because it gets a superb figure while maintaining some serious explosive strength at the same time.  It is the program that Chad used to train Ralek Gracie to win at the Dream 14 (which I confess I had never previous heard of but which I now understand is a big Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event).  The focus of this interview is less on fat burning and much more on MMA and fight training which gives it an interestingly different feel to the other articles.
  • So where do you find the program?  You can find links to Body of F.I.R.E. on the special website that has been set up.  If you want to read up the full and official introductory information about it first then there’s plenty of detail elsewhere on the site.  And finally, I’ve also found that John Davenport has written a pros and cons review of the program on Ezine which is well worth a quick read if you are thinking of getting a copy.

Hopefully you’re all feeling like you know Chad Waterbury a bit better after reading through all of those.  Perhaps you’ll also try the program.  If you do, I’d be really interested to hear what you thought of it.
